$2 Billion Added To Cash For Clunkers Program (CARS) By House Approval

The House has voted in favor of providing an additional $2 billion to Cash For Clunkers Program / Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS). The bill was approved on a vote of 316-109. House members acted within hours of learning from Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood that the program was running out of money.

The Cash For Clunkers Program, now known as Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) is a new program from the government that will help you pay for a new, more fuel efficient car or truck from a participating dealer when you trade in a less fuel efficient car or truck.
